Kraken is a well-known pre-workout from Sparta Nutrition which at one point was considered to be one of the best pre-workouts on the market. Well... that's before the brand decided to change the formula to appeal to a more mainstream audience with the removal of DMHA a signal that Sparta would no longer be the hardcore brand it started out as.

Maybe they had manufacturing issues or some heat from the authorities, or perhaps they just felt the more casual user represents the future of sports nutrition. Regardless of the reason why, Kraken now is no longer the ultra-hardcore preworkout it once was. Thankfully, Sparta are aware of this fact which is why they have now unleashed a version of Kraken designed with the hardcore users in mind. That preworkout is Kraken Black.

If you have ever seen Clash of the TItans you will definitely be familiar with the phrase "Release the Kraken". In the film it unleashed a monster of unimaginable proportions so will Kraken Black be its preworkout counterpart?

Whenever a brand is releasing a newer version of a product, it tends to be a step up or an 'upgraded' version but with Kraken Black it is slight step down from the original but only a little and in some respects it may actually be a better fit for some people.

Why? Well, because the original Kraken was a very strong pre-workout it only appealed to a narrow segment of hardcore users and it definitely tended to cause some appetite suppression and mood drop a few hours after using it. On the other hand, Kraken Black remains a high stimulant preworkout, containing no less than 5 stimulants, but with a supporting cast of ergogenic ingredients such as citrulline and beta-alanaine which are dosed at the ideal, science-proven levels shown to enhance endurance and fight fatigue.
